How to use Microsoft Teams for live lessons


Creating a lesson/meeting

  1. Open Microsoft teams
  2. Click calendar
  3. Click new meeting
  4. Add title for your meeting
  5. Set day and time
  6. Set to repeat if you wish meeting to be regular
  7. Click add channel
  8. Type in Class name
  9. Click general under the class name
  10. Click Send

Email will be sent too

Just before you wish to start lesson/meeting

  1. Ensure all the documents you wish to use during the meeting are open and minimised
  2. Click calendar
  3. Click the meeting you wish to start
  4. Click join
  5. Click join now
  6. Click 3 dots (more actions)
  7. Click show device settings, then check your mic and speakers are working then X (Close)
  8. Click show participants (This enables you to see which students have joined so far)

During lesson/meeting

  1. Ask students to mute their mic’s to prevent feedback
  2. When you are ready to start recording lesson/meeting click 3 dots
  3. Click start recording (recording starts straight away)
  4. When you wish to share your screen click share (Arrow up share)
  5. Click screen 1
  6. Now students can see your screen (Start to show presentation. Documents etc)
  7. When you wish to stop sharing screen click stop share (arrow down stop share)
  8. When you wish to stop recording click 3 dots
  9. Click stop recording
  10. It will ask you again if you wish to stop recording-Click (stop recording or cancel to continue with recording)
